I hear a lot of things like that, maybe Gm does outsource to Motive, another member tells me that some gears are manufactured by Richmond. As far as I know GM buys all their axles from American Axle Manufacturing so I would imagine AAM still uses their own gears. Remember that a majority of these gear sets find their way into trucks, vans, years ago in grandmas buick. Its funny how the people who are passionate about GM products are gear heads who probably dont care if their NOS T/A with 550hp has gear whine but thats probably why most aftermarket gear sets can be set up with 0.006 to 0.012 backlash. I was told that OEM gears are manufactred to higher standards to mesh more precisely with a 0.002 backlash to run as quiet as possible because GM was concerned about giving that 1986 oldsmobile cuttlass a perfictly quiet ride so that customers were not coming back and complaining about a whine which would have to be warrentied at cost to the company every time. I dunno how true all of that is but i think it sounds lodgical
