if a motor makes good power and it takes to long to get to the end of the quarter the MPH is always higher than expected -- case in point one of the drag cars we built motor trans and rear for - last fall the car went 8:33 @ 169.7 -- now the 169 corrected MPH for 8:33 is 158 mph - the corrected et for 169 is 8:20 -- so in a high end drag car car camshaft timing is the answer to the problem - the cam needs to be advanced - motor is making not enough low end and it is taking to long to get the 1350 done - engine speed is also a problem its not geared for 169 with safe rpm - getting back to a dyno - its all in the time it takes to make the power not the power #s them self that is important - the race track is the best dyno we have - and keeping track of weather / track temps / tires / and all the other stuff is so very important -- the key to drag racing today is doing the same thing ( exactly ) every time and in this way you can make a single change - and your ticket will reflect good or bad -- so in the end we hope we can slow the mph and quicken the et - best case is 8:25 @ 165.5 -- if the changes we just made work --thats in very good air not mid summer -- jz
