it is partially the result of the amount of moisture and grip in the track. if the clay stays damp on the sorface it has a lot of grip and what you end up doing is rolling hard in and out of the throttle, this uses the accelerator pumps more. under normal conditions when the track dries out over the course of the evening and gets slick, you will spend a lot more time off throttle when setting the car for the corner.
the plugs will be puled so that hte engine builder can take a look at them just to be safe, but we are pretty sure it is just the track conditions.
there didn't seem to be any excessive fuel smell to the exhaust and there was never even a mist of smoke or anything.
