The information in this link has been confirmed by Melling reps and Rick Moroso. Melling has cast the bodies of their oil pumps thinner at the request of General Motors. Warnings are being shipped with the M55 pumps so people know not to use them in high performance applications.
The one on the right is the "new" style.
