IMO, if you're going to build a new motor, you should just save the parts for the new motor. Why go through the hassle of swapping intakes, just to dirty it up for a few years while you build a new motor? If all you want to do is clean your TPI so it looks nice again, pull the runners and plenum off and leave the base installed so you don't have to fool with the distributor and intake gaskets. Then clean everything up, and paint the parts with Cast Aluminum paint. It'll look brand new, and only cost you an afternoon's work and a few $$ in the upper TPI gaskets.
