Wheel question

I haev a 1996 Trans Am with the stock 16" wheels. I want to go with 17x9.5 front 17x11 rear in a black Z06 replicas... now the ones I found say

"They are 5-lug (5x120.65mm). The 17" x 9.5" are a +38mm offset (6.7 inch backspacing) and the 17" x 11" are a +36.5 mm offset (7.397 inch backspacing)."

And I was told it will fit without modification to my car, but I was also told I do not want to mount them and to find ones of another group of specs. I was told to get these specs:

"+56mm offset with 7.4" backspacing"

But if the first ones fit, why wouldnt I want to use them? Are they structuarally dangerous? I dont know much about fitting wheels, any help would be appreaciated!
