The LT4 conversion itself is not all that good, but the raised runners offer more potential then the LT1 once fully ported and a larger cam added. But for that price, aftermarket heads would probably be cheaper and would certainly flow better.

You can have your stock intake port matched which will hekp some.

As far as aftermarket intakes, there are a few out there, but I've never heard of anyone actually seeing and big gains on 'street engines" Few 396 CI LT1 with big cams and rave heads are using sheetmetal intakes, but you're looking at a $2500 price tag just for the intake. For the street this none might work.
