I have to disagree with you there Tim. Vipers have always been very competitive, and won hands down almost all the time in their catagory in the ALMS back in 97-00. The Corvettes were getting eaten by them until Chrysler decided to end backing up their funding to Oreca, they were sold off to privateers, and Oreca still raced them ,but they focused their fundings to the LMP1 class at the time, which made the Viper GTS-R obselite. Now the new one they came out with does not run it ALMS because it is too powerful, and has been detuned severly, made for privateers like what Porsche does wiht their GT2's, and build them within specs for the Grand am series and what not, but Chrysler doesnt want to back up the fundings to take it to Le Mans, nor build one to FIA or ACO specs, thats why they arent running in it anymore. and the only reason why the Corvette didnt have any competition up until the Auston Martins came in after was because the Saleens were forced to add weight to the cars and detune them as well after the 2001 season, why Idk, but my insider guys let me know that for some reason int the ALMS, they took away their competitavness after the 2001 season.... but in the ELMS they are quite competative, and sa for the Vipers, they are still raced in europe and winning today, and are still a threat at teh Nurburging 24 hrs. race.
