well the drivers and co drivers I can see the manufacturers for making them that fast, but as for the crowd deaths, it was really poor track marshaling that unfortunatley laid way to specactor deaths. if you se in many ofthe photos, the crowd runs back off the road mere seconds before the car swould somce thru, infact around I think 1:18, after a car goes by, if you look at the far left ofthe screen , youll see a guy so close he looses his camera. Today really is no better, they have red tape they wrap around trees....yeah that'll stop a car from hitting them. The only driver and Co driver I can date that were killed was the Lancia team atteh corsica Rally. and the only spectators I knwo that were killed were the 3 when the RS200 plowedinto them. now why didthe RS crash into them, well the driver tried to miss a guy photographing in the road and he lost control and hitthe crowd. But yes tey were too fast. I mean when you have the ability to take a hatchback ,and get a fast enough time to qualify it 6th in a F1 race, yeah its time to cool down. but still, man what I would do to see that area of Rallying. The Lancia 037's, and S4's, the Audi S1's, the Renualt and Peugeots too.
