hm, sounds like your wires are touching and shorting somewhere. bvestthing to do is find the wires that connect to the gauge and follow them inch by inch, looking for bloated, burnt, frayed, soft, or jsut out of the ordinary spots on it, and youll probably find oyur culprit, if not, it might be the gauge is shroting, that i dont know how, but give that a try. Im not the best at electrical but its the best place to start
