Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center at 800.222.1020 (toll-free US number), tell them you are restoring an early Camaro, and would like some data to help your labor of love. They will request your VIN, and then ship you a package of documentation that includes a detailed and extremely (though not perfectly) accurate specification of that year Camaro and the options. This is free!
I found out from the Customer Assistance people that I could call the GM Heritage Center and get a copy of the original invoice for my vehicle. They do a print from the old microfiche that the records are stored on...they have the records from 1977 forward...older records were apparently lost/destroyed. It ain't cheap ($50, payable over phone via CC if desired), but I figured, what the hell, I've already got just a bit more than that into my car. They can send you a copy via snail-mail and also email...I choose to get both. Figured it would be neat to have since the actual dealer for my 78 went out of business years ago and I won't be able to get any info from them. Just give them your VIN and they go search for and find the invoice.
The POC at the GM Heritage Center for these records is Stacy Lillard (sp?). Call 734-421-0273 ext. 107. She was very nice. :bowtie: Also said that there are various other film/print resources available...they charge extra for that stuff above and beyond the cost for getting print copy of the invoice.
