power steering temperature question.

question: does Power steering fluid haveto be at a certain temperature to work proberly, or the coolerthe better. Im looking into making a setup using my 98-02 Power steering cooler that didnt fit on my radiator hoses, a retangular inlet system with a 1 1/2 opening, a short piece of straight rubber hose to connect the two together, cut out a hole in the air baffle on the bottom of our cars and rivet the inlet on it, so basically just air instead of fluid transfer of heat disapation will be done, but will it bee too much reduction in temperature? I do autocross and I know doing all those quick turns heats up our fluid, and thats all I need ot do is burn out my pump from autocrossing.
