Wayne Due has been known to do it for first and second gens. I would say it would cost anywhere from $1500-2000 to get it done, given you do a lot of the work yourself.
I would only ever consider doing this for the "coolness factor", at least for my first gen. I don't like the wheel hop issues that come along with an IRS (or at least the C3 and C4 vette ones, which are the most affordable from what I remember but also the poorest design).
