I can't find the name or the news story anymore, but I sat next to a guy (Matt Tillman, Jon Tillman, something like that, no relation to Pat Tillman) in Linear Algebra class in college who murdered a preacher and his wife in North Carolina with a double barreled shotgun. He got kicked out of ROTC and just snapped.
