you have a vette, notice i said F-bodies, not vettes

im not saying all will do that. but its a fact the 98' LS1 fbodies are known for all that crap happening. weak connecting rod bolts, defective oil pumps, piston slap, hydraulic clutch woes, the list goes on and on my friend.

hmm, well if you can, find out who replaced it, and see if they still have the warranty info. If it was a jasper replacement, it should have a 3yr/36k mile warranty on it. I had mine replaced with a Jasper over 3 yrs ago. there was a long list of revisions made. I have had no problems with it other than a broken valve spring about a year ago. And i wouldnt be exxagerating if i said ive had over 100 track passes on it. and double, if not triple, street racing runs. and then the "go from roll" runs.. I was also spraying the 100 shot on it for a summer.
as far as being the slowest of 4th gen fbodies, its really not that much slower. maybe a few tenths. I pulled a 12.97@110 on 17" street tires, lid/catback and full weight and my best time (in sig) which wouldve been 11.7-11.8 @ 115-116 pending i had it tuned and my trans wasnt a pos
