A 52MM may give you a bit more power topend, more so you will notice a slightly better throttle responce. But without other supporting mods the TB will only be good for 2-3HP. Until you're over 400HP the 58MM can actually hurt your performance as it can can actually result in the MAS not metering the air properly. It can cost you HP and low end performance as well. My heads/cam engine made 330RWHP, I switched from a 52 to a 58 and dropped .2 on the ET, put the 52 back on and it picked right back up.
As far as brand, BBK is probably the most popular and probably a few dollars cheaper then the other name brands; Holley, Arizona Speed. The AZ units are nice peices, but the cost reflects that! They offer a 54MM TB as well then is a good fit for cars in the 350-400 range where the 58 is a bit too much.
