I posted this originally in the Thread on the Christmas push to remember our Troops, but felt that maybe it got lost in the frenzy going on in that Thread, so here's some information on how to really make our deployed Troops feel they're not forgotten, all year long. Go to
http://www.adoptaplatoon.org/ and sign up to be either a Platoon supporter, which among other things entails sending 'Care Packages' to your adopted Platoon, or sign up to become a 'Pen Pal', which only entails writing to your assigned Soldier for the term of their deployment. If you don't think the Troops appreciate even just a Letter, well, they do, in fact, my assigned Soldier called me from Iraq to thank me for writing to him. PLEASE, don't just get all hyped up around the Holidays about our Troops, and then go on your merry way, these guys and gals really are hungry for contact from the States all year long, and they need personal items all year long.
