Think of it as a testosterone-filled soap opera.
It's "fake" in that it isn't scripted and that they are trying to avoid killing each other in the ring vs. what is implied on TV. But there is a ton of stuff that isn't faked and some stuff that is exciting to watch.
And local wrestling can be a blast to see. These guys haven't "made it" yet, so they REALLY do some ****ed up ****. I used to watch CZW (out of Philly) in the early '00s and it was wild. Guys stapling shirts to each other's heads, breaking flourescent light bulbs over each other, using a weed whacker, etc. Wild, wild stuff.
