Court depends on where you are going. When I went, I walked in, and got in line to talk with the prosecutor. When I spoke with him, all he did was "you did x, I can drop it to y or z, which is a and b cost...which do you want?" I didn't say a word other than I wanted unsafe and "thank you sir." Then I sat in the court room and waited for my name to be called. I stood in front of the judge, he detailed the offense, asked me a question about it, then said the prosecutor agreed to drop it to unsafe, do you plead guilty to the new offense willingly etc etc?
Just make sure you bring cash/check. The court I went to didn't take credit card, and I was kind of banking that they would. He let me go to bring him a check the next day, but it might have something to do with I'm female, married, and clean driving record for 9 years, and I was extremely polite. There was a younger male who didn't have the clean record and wasn't as polite, and the judge decided he wasn't going to let him go til the next day, he had to scrounge up the money that night if he didn't want to spend the night in jail.
