You said you wanted to future proof your box a little bit. A quad core will ensure that future programs run most efficiently and will allow you to multi-task MUCH more better. If you ever burn DVD's, play music, copy files, or browse the internet simultaneously I can't stress enough how much quad cores help! It's an extra 60 or so bucks for the quad core and worth every penny.
