if i remember correctly those wires look like they went to the carb and you can pull them off to the side and not worry about them. the question is did you change the distributor or leave the oem the one in there.
You also shouldn't have to hook up a return line to the fuel pump.
A further back pic would help a little better with the linkage for the carb
