I kick myself every day for spending ALL my money on cars when I was a kid. I would save up for the next mod, the next car payment, the next whatever, and never saved for a house. When I got married at 29 (in 2002) I actually had to sell my 2000 Maxima back to the dealership because I couldn't afford a car payment and my mortgage payment. I didn't want to risk defaulting on the loan, and I couldn't find anyone to buy the car. My wife did well financially (she had saved the down-payment for our house) but she didn't bail me out - I think to teach me a lesson. I bought a beat '86 Olds Cutlass and drove it for over a year until I straightened out my finances.

I say this to every young person on the board with mod fever - SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!!!
