Well, either way you're going to have to measure unfortunately. I switched from Comp Rs to LS7s and the LS7s were in the hole about .050" deeper. Is this on a new build or what? Usually it takes quite awhile to get oil to the upper valvetrain on new lifters/pushrods. On my motor, it took almost 3 minutes of priming before they were pumped up enough (and that's with the Melling 10552 pump).

Oil won't squirt out of the pushrods. It should barely dribble out, so what you are seeing may be normal.
