plastic polymer is a very broad classification of materials. The molecular structure of a gas tank and a shrinkable plastic is different.

I really doubt the shrink wrap would melt due to heat. The wires are the same size and there should be negligible resistance at the soldered connection to create heat.

However, you bring up a good point; the wires in the fuel pump assembly and from the kit were probably designed for stock voltage. I think Im going to reconnect my hot wire kit from the alternator to the battery.
