yea, there will be a lot of air in the lines now.. so the whole system needs to be opened, filled, and bleed out. maybe he has a small hole in a line or fitting someplace. probably in a line where rust ate it. it may have opened up, and after a few pumps on the brakes, it would have sprayed enough fluid out onto the roadway that the pressure in the system would be so low.. causing the the feeling of no pressure at the brake pedal. somehow the fluid got out of the system. find the leak. repair it. and add new fluid.. then bleed it out. and look for leaks.
