The oil pan had to be swapped to an F-body pan to clear the steering rack. The pan was contaminated from when it was cleaned and blasting material chewed up the bottom end -mainly just the rod and thrust bearings. I'm having new rods, all bearings, oil pan rod bolts, crank and valve springs/retainers installed. I found a company that builds armored trucks and the remove the stock rotating assembly from the trucks right away to go forged -got the assembly for $320 shipped. It's from th y66 engine -but the crank, rods wrist pins are the same thing -I'm just going to reuse my pistons as the y66 pistons are lower compression -my pistons were fine. The assembly I purchased looks new -however we are going to mic everything -so far looks good.

Basically the pan was blasted using aluminum oxide and material stuck to the walls of the pan even though it went through a parts cleaner multiple times -once hot the oil pulled the material out and chewed up the bearings. I noticed a drop in oil pressure and immediately pulled the pan to find metal shavings and the oil contaminated. There was no rod knock or anything -but it was clear something was wrong. Huge set back and I did not get much seat time -but come April it will be back together caged and ready to rock.

Shortly after this pic was taken that bottle of Jameson was empty:
