It is not supply and demand, OPEC had to
cut production because there was too much oil.

It isn't the stations in fact a lot them make less when it goes this high.
It is greed plain and simple. A few people are getting rich on oil by putting the economy in a deeper depression. Fuel goes up consumer confidence and spending goes down.
Our entire economy is based on consumers spending money on crap.
I have to drive 120 miles a day to Island Beach State Park to do work on Gov. Christies shore house. It is the only work around so I'm stuck. But if prices stay this high I will work 3 double shifts and stay home the other 2 days. I am also not going to buy the new TV for my living room and the stand to go with it. I might even cancel putting in my driveway this year, and I sure as hell not going to buy the wife a new car to replace the pos Malibu she is driving now.
