ok, ive found several threads and seems like everyone cries about the "safety" issue requiring them. people suck
from what ive read so far, seems the cars has a light sensor for the auto on feature which also activates the DRLs. and that the light sensor feeds the input straight to the BCM. apparently it can be tuned out somehow through the computer, but thats one way.
if i had a car to look over, i may be able to find much simpler way to do it.
as of right now, to run hids on a NON-RS camaro, i would run an extra wire from the headlight switch that gives 12v when in the on or activated at night time position, to a 12v relay up front. Use that 12v relay to activate the hids which would be then wired directly to the battery. that way, the whole stock headlight harness and plug is bypassed and you wont have to worry about drls. later i could draw you up a schematic of what im talking about if it doesnt make sense.
ill still be looking into it though. if i had a camaro wiring diagram id be golden. lol
