Mike, I'll give you the short version here and give me a shout if you want to know more.

There are no restrictions on where you can use a 2 stroke - the only restriction is where motors over 10 hp are banned regardless of 2stroke/4stroke nature. (i.e. reservoir).

3 seaters are way more comfortable, easier to ride, and more stable. They also take the waves way better, and they don't take on water like the 2 seaters do. They also can actually fit 2 people comfortably.

2 strokes are fine if you don't mind the slight smell or the sound. I've had zero problems with mine over the past 3 years. Yamaha and Sea Doo are the two main brands.

You can ask Ted how he likes his Yamaha 3 seater too, his is an 04 but it's a 4 stroke - same hull though.

Sea Doo hulls are stronger but unless you really plan on going over big waves its not entirely necessary.
