Not sure how much different LT1 blocks are from the old stuff. When I built my engine we went with 5.7" rods (thats what came with the eagle kit). The machine shop had to grind block material from below each cylinder for the rods to clear, we also ran into an issue with Camshaft/Rod interference. The rods that came with the 383 Stroker kit would not clear the camshaft lobes. We ended up getting a different set of rods.
I did not have any issues running a stock oil pan on my engine. But it was also an older 350 block, not sure if it's the same with an LT1.
