I planned on a 6 cylinder truck and threw the 3000lb towing capacity out there. Realistically it would need to be able to tow say 1500 lbs every now and then. And yes, I'm still in college and this summer I have an internship which is why I have the long commute.
Jeff- I didn't even think about the electric fan conversion. I will look into it. Basically if I could somehow squeeze 20 mpg outta this truck it would be enough for me to consider keeping it.
Another option: I could keep the truck and split driving with my camaro. Even with the H/C package it gets 23 mpg but the car has minimal rock chips on it and I really would like to keep miles off it if I can. It also doesn't have AC.
