When you get used to doing it one way, Im sure the person finds it easier to do it than the other.
I personally prefer pulling out the bottom. motor,trans all on the ground in under 1.5hrs., and leaves you plenty of room to work on it. Plus is that you can hook the harness up and all sensors with ease instead of cramming your hands in between cowl/intake & such with motor in car.
I have done it both ways, out the bottom is easier and everything is more accessible IMO.
