I scored a 90 on my asvab and my gt score was 131. I've been in the Marine Corps for a little over two years as an 0311 (rifleman). Does my job transfer to the civilian world? Nope. Could I have gotten any other job in the military? Yup.
The infantry is a very demanding job. Its nothing like what you would think it would be though. The only time I truly enjoyed my job was in Afghanistan...and even that was very bitter-sweet (some close calls here and there).
If I had to do it over again, I'd probably do the same thing. As much as this job sucks, I will never regret doing it.
Now that that has been said, I would never EVER advise someone to join the infantry.
