Phil is an old friend of mine from Belleville, where we both grew up.

Like the article mentions, it was a race car (early 70's style) and still had the 1972 inspection sticker when he bought it. He spent a lot of time and money on the car and it turned out to be really beautiful in person when it was done.

I had seen the car run 10.5 at 130 many times at Englishtown with that stroker motor. Before he moved to Co, I raced him and a Cartek built C5 Vette from a 45mph roll with my 84 - he won by 3 cars to 130 (Vette wasn't even close). Wonder why he put 11.1 in the article, unless that was at CO altitude...
