All of the colors are solid since it's an acrylic resin. They have 54 different shades to choose from. You can read more about it on their website but I read around and most of the reviews were very positive. I worked off of my neighbors experience as well. For 5 gals, it wasn't cheap at $154 but if it lasts longer than the stain, then its well worth it. It supposedly has a limited lifetime warranty so we will see how long it lasts. I knew once I went this route, the deck would need to be treated this way going forward. No way in hell will I be sanding the whole thing to go back to a stain.
For the railings, I used a paint mitt which made quick work getting the first coat down.
