4L60E would require a controller of some sort. The 700R4 you have in your 91 is technically designated a 4L60 as it has some mechanical and valve body upgrades from the mid-90 and earlier transmissions but it does not include the full electronic controls of the E model.
So yes, you could swap it in but be aware that it will require some expenditure outside of just buying a transmission.
