I get what you are saying but since there are 30 different motors in the gen 3 and 4 families and many have LS codes, its just easier to call it an lsx. Gen 5s aren't ls coded so its dumb to call them that, I agree there. Most enthusiasts will tell other enthusiasts its an l98, or lq4, or ls2 and usually base that on the block used but if you are at a car show or maybe trying to be sneaky or just being vague/general, then lsx covers the basis and is understood by most out there. Hell, it sure beats saying its a corvette motor. Also, LSX just looks cooler and has sex appeal compared to grandpa's gen III. Case closed!
