I would agree with the brushless for higher speed stuff but for crawling it's too much of a pain in the ass having to waterproof the motors and it's cost prohibitive having to buy a sensored brushless motor and ESC. I can replace the brushes in my Holmes Hobbies motors for $6-8 and replace the motor entirely for $45-55.
