The car looks good, but the price is a bit steep I think.

I wanna know what the "mechanical restoration" entailed......he claims he was charged for 323 hours of book time ($21k) and $15k in parts....

interesting. if the car was numbers matching, original block, it would prolly sell for about half of what this guy is asking. the people who posted in support of the loony tunes asking price must either be his friends or a merry band of witless retards trying to make whatever year T/A they have go up in value.
it is a nice looking car, but with the way the story of sell for someone, repurchase to resell, i woudl be suspect of the true originality of the car and the story behind it.
maybe one of our second gen experts will chime in, but wasn't the white interior only offered on white, red, and the lighter blue exterior cars in the mid 2nd gen years? it looks odd to have blue dash pad, console, and seat belts with white seats and door panels.

I hate to say it guys but that car is probably worth that. It's a Super Duty 455 with original paint(and a great color) and low miles. That car will continue to go up in value as well. The non original block doesn't hurt as much as you think due to the paperwork with the car. Looks like the car sold outside of Ebay already.

I agree 100% with you, Jeff. Doc is key. Plus it's a desireable color, 4-spd, and appears to be in excellent shape. One of 212 built.

in some quick searching around a little the best i can find recently is an automatic SD from 73, all original and documented with 85k miles, for a tick under $52k. i have trouble believing a less desirable year and a 4spd account for an extra $48,000 onto the price tag.
especially when it is spoken of as a survivor yet then says there is resto work done, which is it?
like i said before, the later 455 blocks are a known issue and i don't think that really sways the value much.

I'm starting to hate muscle cars and pony cars. no way in hell would I ever pay that much for a 74 T/A. I wouldnt even pay that much for a 71 'cuda or a 69 camaro. All the cool cars are going to end up as conversation pieces and investments instead of drivers. Big thumbs down in my opinion.

the whole thing is slowly changing from a hobby to an investment. it takes the fun out of knowing the cars are around and makes parts prices go through the roof.

Yeah, it sucks how much the prices have gone up. I would have never put as much into my JL8 without knowing I would get it back. My L78 car will be one of those $100K cars in no time which is why I bought it this year while it was affordable and not too scary to drive. Parts prices have been insane for a while now and they keep getting worse.

third gens are slowly coming back, my dad gets one of those pricing books every month and certain models keep goin up. i know my 88 has gone up a few percent but mostly any convertable has. as for fourth gens there still on the decline, the only one thats not is the 2002 collectors edition trans am, still holding strong in the 30k range, while the 35th SS camaro isnt holding at all, go figure?

They made way too many 35th SS cars for them to be special. The 1LE and B4C 3rd gen cars are climbing rapidly but the production numbers are really low so it won't be easy to find one.

Also (IMHO) people know to take care of collector cars these days. Back in the 70s and such this type of hobby wasn't around like it is today so a lot of the desirable stuff got crushed or disappeared. Everybody knows better than to hack up a collector car today so there will be more of them around in the future.

i think the value of "special" cars has more to do with what billy is saying that any production numbers. low production will always hold/gain value, mass production but neglected will always gain value.
think of ti this way, in 1975 there was no shortage of 69 camaro's. plenty were made and plenty were still enjoying a driving life. they had no real value at that point. fast forward past years of people junkn them because they didn't really care and now look at prices of even the most basic 69 in rough condition.

I appreciate generally unmolested muscle. It's a piece of history. That is why I don’t begrudge the numbers matching guys, no matter how wacky & anal they get.

You can still get 'regular' firebirds & camaros of that vintage relatively cheap. You can't go by the price of odd rarities and say all muscle cars cost too much. But they will continue to rise because they don’t make them anymore. And guys like Tim cut them up.
