				 truck issues

Well I've owned my truck for about a month now, started it up today and it says "check oil level." So, I pop the hood, check the oil and surprise! there's essentially nothing in there. Got some oil from 7-11 and filled it up to drive it to the dealer, and its getting fixed now. Thank god for the warranty, it just sucks because I NEED my truck for work, and now I can't work until it's fixed. The salesman felt bad for me when I got there, and their replacing my brake pads and shaving the rotors too for free b/c they were squealing.

no it's not a leak. I'm not sure how I lost oil, I've already put 3k miles on it, its due for an oil change in 300mi and suddenly all my oil is gone. No leak, never did anything extreme with it beside pulling a landscape trailer and I never saw smoke coming from my exhaust. I guess I'll find out when they call me tomorrow.

this doesn't make sense. unless you bought a truck with no oil in it, its obviously leaking somewhere.

It sucked all the oil into the engine through the pcv! But seriously, unless it was originally low on oil, I can't see how it would use that much oil unless there is a real problem. Hopefully it isn't anything too serious. Might be time for a crate motor under warranty!

I'd venture a guess on internal oil leak at the intake gaskets. Had the same issue.

interesting, we have an 02 suburban with the 5.3l and lately have been having the same problem. The oil was changed not too long ago and low oil light came on. I checked it and it was down almost 2 qts. We never see it leaking in or around the driveway. Keep us posted on what they find

I got it back. They said no leaks, not burning oil either. They changed the oil and said "keep an eye on it."
And yes, it's a used one. 2006 with the 5.3

Here are a few service bulletins for 2006 Silverado's. 07-06-01-007C - inspect valve guides, replace heads if needed (should use about 1qt every 500-700 miles)
05-06-01-019F - rear main seal leak, replace with new design seal
07-06-01-004A - oil pressure sensor leaking, reseal sensor

GM also says its normal for engines to use 1qt every 2,000 miles. There was also a PI on the PCV system freezing in extreme cold weather, causing oil leaks. I would check it every time you fill up your tank. Try and get it fixed before your warranty runs out.
