Question Does Diesel Fuel Go Bad?

I have a space heater that we keep in case of a power failure. Haven't used it for 6-7 years now but also I have about 3 gal. of fuel I have never used. Is it still good or does it go bad like gasoline? It only will be used to burn in the wick of the heater.

You can get water in diesel fuel. I'd get fresh fuel in this case.

Yes diesel can go bad with contact with oxygen and water, and can grow algae in it. a quick check would be to pull a sample and look for anything thick floating around. It would look kind of like iced tea

I blame it on the education system.

Another factor could be if you stored the diesel outside and it was the summer blend, this is when they dont have the winter blend additive ( they call the summer blend i think #2 diesel and then the winter diesel is #1 blend). So denfinately go get fresh diesel.
