If you couldnt sense the sarcasm about the 4 cyl imports thing, you need to get your sarcasm detector checked out

i have no problem with imports, or 4cyl engines...im not narrow minded like many of the muscleheads out there ("if its not a V8 and RWD, its crap!")

and grand ams arent really my taste...rental cars. the GT's are ok, but the 4cyl Grand Ams are slower than molasses, as i found out the other night when one tried to run me on the highway

most of the girls in that contest were gross.........

most of the racing was bye runs.........

and most of the cars in the show were pos's or rice........

it was a complete waste of 25 dollars....

but.
my friends 02 rsx won best of acura, another friends 02 wrx took second in the subaru class in the car show.

I hate 4 cylinders that don't rev into the 5 digits. Turbo, nitrous, AWD, heck, I don't care if it comes with a flux capacitor it still sounds like my 2-stroke weed-wacker.
Racing a 4-cylinder is like putting a kick me sign on your back, why do that to yourself? 6 is better but when you can get 8's as cheap as you can in the states why insult your fellow American's by buying and then RACING a 4-banger? I've yet to be impressed with even the evo's. Sure they're in the 12's but last time I checked the fastest evo was still hunting for single digits. How many "old" v8's have we all seen in the single digits, there, nuff said.

as i so often ask, why buy them at all? there are 4-cyl american cars that can do the same thing if you put the same technology/dollars into them. it doesn't have to have 8 cylinders to get single digits, but it sure is cheaper.

if you look at all the "import" racing leagues and whatnot, most of them are led by American sport compacts. Dodge and Chevy own them all.

it may be cheaper to have a V8 car...but if you like a certain car that happens to not really have room for anything bigger than the 4cyl, you have to make do with what youve got. its basically just trying to push the limit, be the underdog...enter James and G. Sure they could have V8 f-bodies easy, but they chose to go with the V6...because well its a V6, and not many people mod the hell out of them.

f-bods were made in canada....theyre imports :P

Ok so DSMs were built in america...but they are still imports at heart. Japanese drivetrain. Not that thats a bad thing, just explaining why its still considered an import.

well i consider things made in america not imports, i dunno maybe its just me. porsche 944 was import, mclaren is an import, enzo is an import, should i keep going? dsm is also not just mitsubishi. it was a joint effort between chrystler and mitsu. N/T's even had a 420a engine which is not japanese.

I look at where the profit from selling the car is going. Even though some "import" companies have setup manufacturing plants in the US, they are still based in other countries, and the money is going back there.

um..is plymouth laser and eagle talon imports too?

ninja-edit* i know those are part of "dsm". But a poster above me pointed out that sales from "dsm" were pocketed my mitsubishi, i assumed you meant mitsubishi eclipse. DSM was two companies so im pretty sure the sales from eagle talon were pocketed my chrystler and not mitsu.
