Scored a free car
Not an F body but its a clean '73 Pontiac Ventura. Has a Pontiac 350 in it. The guy couldn't get it started. I asked him how much to take it off his hand and he said just take it. Found out the points were no good. He just did the interior over with black bucket seats. Maybe a nice candidate for a dragster.....
LOL thats my Camaro across the street.

Good deal man - that's a pretty nice car to score for free. Is the body solid?

Just a little surface rust and the trunk is rusty. No biggie. I want to paint it black.

Arent all Pontiac motors the same, just different bore/stroke?
So he could technicly, make it a 400? And why only go half assed on a 400 when there is the 455?
And if you are gunna do that, why go Pontiac when there are Big Block Chevy's?? Yeah, you could make it fast and put a Pontiac motor, but why? To be unique? Whoopty do, unique doesnt win races.
Go Big Block Chevy or go home.
Or twin turbo LS2.

all poncho's use the same basic casting. the size of the water jackets varies from year to year and there are huge variations in how good/bad the metals used in the castings were. the larger motors were actually made better, delorean had no respect for 326/350 motors as he considered them only service pieces and a 389 and larger motor he viewed as performance pieces.
why keep a poncho? low end power. pontiac motors don't spin to 6500 like a lot of motors cause of bottom end oiling issues, but they don't really have to either. ponchos make a ton of power right off idle thanks to far better head design than anything chevy ever put out.
poncho motors also sound a lot different from anything else, they start sounding mean with a stock cam and it only gets better the more cam you put in it

that car looks like its in good shape. can you swap a nova front end on it though? for the price of what you got it, spending a few hundred on a new front end would make that car look way better. awsome freebie

I plan on giving it to my brother in Maryland (he has an '84 Firebird). I don't have the space up here and he has a garage. The guy gave me the title and I transferred it over on Monday.

Definately a sweet pick up... Wanna take a 1968 Mercury Marquis Broham? It's only the biggest damn boat to float the road.
