Do seatbelt tickets get sent to the insurance companies?

Well I got caught speeding last night while I was out. Totally oblivious of how fast I was going when the cop passed me in the other direction....I looked down and sure enough I was way over the limit. I saw him pull a u-turn and I pulled over immediately. That's right....I admit....I was speeding and the cop wasn't just targeting me.

Anyway he was cool about it and only gave me a seatbelt ticket (yes I did really have my belt on). The fine is minimal, but I was just wondering if seatbelt tickets get sent to the auto insurance companies? I'm assuming yes, but maybe for once I'm lucky?

I'm under the assumption that a seatbelt is a secondary offense and doesn't count as a moving violation...so i dont think the insurance companies find out.

Seatbelt tickets carry no points, and its only a local offense so it doesnt go to your insurance. Most of the time its only a $45 fine and you get off without any hitches.

SOME insurance companies can view that you have a seatbelt offence(I think Geico is one of them) however since it's a no point offense it doesn't affect anything.

Thank god! I have NJ Manufacturers if anyone else uses them and knows 100%. Just glad the officer was nice enough not to hit me for doing 19 over the limit.

when I got my insurance with Geico they told me I had a seatbelt ticket and an unclear plate ticket... They never mentioned if it would increase my rate but why'd they bring it up? They're both stupid tickets

seatbelt and unclear plates do get reported to dmv and will show on your record. but no points and will not affect anything. I never ran a front plate and got quite a few tickets for that, funny thign is that when it shows up in the computer, it is listed and "ficticious plates" and thats all. when i was 19 and got my own insurance, i had fun explaining why i had 5 or 6 "fictisious plate" tickets but it was fine. And now in NJ no seatbelts is a primary offense meaning they can pull you over for just that. for example tints are secondary(they cant pull you over for that alone) but they do anyway. but yeah, only movign violations get points.

Are you certain they never found out? I don't care personally if they do, but I don't want to have to tell my folks when they get their new insurance papers and it asks if any other driver in the family has gotten a ticket in the last year.
