Welcome to NJ! I had to get the bill of sale for my 70 SS396 notarized in Canada after I already had the car here in NJ. Always get the title or bill of sale notarized for NJ DMV. It helps make things run smoother.

I never had a problem, and I've never gotten anything notarized. Even when I bought out of state (like the Jeep I got from NY).

Well the person I bought it from never had the title signed over into his name. so I need to get a hold of the previous owner. Then I need to get to a notary to witness him sign a statement, because he put his drivers liscense number on the back of the title when it should not have been. Just a hassel I dont need right now I need the car cuz I traded my car for his one so I have nothing to drive.

So it's not DMV's fault, it's the fault of the guy you bought it from.

Actually it was the guy he bought it from, but its just easy to blame it on the dmv.

I had no problems with a car I bought in Maryland.

Guys, reread what he said. His situation is different than just titling an out of state car.

I was responding more to what Jeff said, not the OP. Prolly should have added the quote there to clarify that.

I got the car today. I had to get ahold of the previous owner, and get him to sign a statement in the presence of a notary. Then go back to the DMV today. The tint is not staying long its way to dark!
