Sounds like a misfire that cleared. Check your gas cap too, make sure it's tight.

I have had trouble with my check light almost since the day I bought it in 88. Every sensor was replaced at least twice before they figured it was the computer sending wrong signals and blowing the sensors. So they replaced the CPU and I was good for about 3 years or so then it started again. I just got mine back on the road after being in storage since 98. Had to replace the mass air flow sensor and that cost a ton, then on the way home from the shop the light went back on. Now it goes on intermittently. When on it runs rough but when off the car runs great. They thing it may be the CPU again, so now I have to look into getting another one of those. In anycase check the computer it may not be sending the right info to the car like mine.
