Tranny cooler

I need to order a new oil pump from summit, so Im going to order a tranny cooler while im at it. What should I order? I want a big one, that can cool a mack truck, but I dont think I can afford any of the ones with the built in fans..

I was thinking about getting 2. Can i do that? I would want one big one, and a trans temp gauge and then a frame rail one. This isnt a built 700r4 so I want to keep it COOOOOL!

i think that once you had the big one, it would render the smaller frame rail one almost useless....just go with one

Get a Derale combination cooler kit and cool both your tranny fluid and your oil with it.

How about using the factory cooler in the radiator with the external cooler? You can plum them in series with each other or paralell.

auto trans has a cooler in the radiator so the oil gets hot - it acts as a temp stablizer so oil gets hot enough to work corectly when shifting and alike -- if the cooler is interupted and the rad cooler in not in play the trans goes bad from moisture that happenes when it does not get hot enough -- a small add on is all you need if that -- but than again you have your idea -- jz

Getting one that is too big is a silly idea, your trans fluid won't get up to temp properly. get the RIGHT one for your car. I think mine is 11X8X1 and it works just fine on my car which is making close to 550HP at the flywheel.

to be honest, I got mine off the shelf of advance auto, and has worked flawlessly. Just get the performance one and youlld be fine, but like they said, if you cool it too much, your trans wont work properly. all you need to do is keep it at a decent temp and youll be fine
