You can speed in pretty much anything. Did you try telling her that it won't happen again and then prove it? or use it as an excuse to let it all out at the track?

I got more tix in my Civic then all the other cars I've owned combined.

I'm guessing a high school kid can't afford a cobalt ss - they are pretty new, right? Get a $500 beater POS. Keep the chicken. Make her a deal, no tix for a year and you get the bird back.

He has a go-ped. But I feel that let mom take the bird from you for a year. Drive something cheap and then get the bird back like bonzo said when you show here you've been doing good and I am not sure a front wheel drive car is good for you because you'll end up off the road from tray sliding.

a gti, cobalt ss, and other cars in that class, would probably be faster than your third gen anyway

First of all, you need to learn how to talk to cops. The words "Yes sir/ma'am" and, in a pinch, "Really?! Wow! I apologize; I didn't realize I was going that fast!" saved my teenaged ***** many times in my youth.

Seriously, though. Slow down. If you pled guilty to those speeders, you're an insurance nightmare. Young male drivers get screwed from the getgo. I agree with the Ford Taurus. Good getaround car.

I feel for ya. When I was 17 wanted a 74 T/A with a nitious hook up from the guy down the street from me, used to drag with it and kick a**. Well pops found out and that ended that. He said no hot rods. So when I turned 19 I went out and got the Iroc. Had it ever since. But like everyone says you can speed in any car. Just get a something you and the parents can agree on and lighten up the foot. Easier said then done. We all most likely did the same things at 17.

When I wan in HS, my friend's mom said the same thing. He wanted to buy his neighbor's Torino GT (a la Starsky & Hutch), but she said it was too fast. Instead he went out and bought a '77 Grand Marquis wagon (the one with folding headlights and the wood on the side), bought the motor (351C) from his neighbor's Torino, and we put it into his wagon in shop class. He didn't even bother to paint the wagon. It was ugly yellow, had woodgrain paneling on the sides, and no hubcaps.

Needless to say, his mom wasn't amused. He did get to keep the car through the winter. It wasn't that fast, but that thing could smoke the tires for days, and it could do donuts anywhere. He went through nearly all of the 15" tires that were laying around the HS auto shop that winter.

She made him sell it in the spring, and he bought a Dodge Omni GLH-S. Basically, the moral of this story is that his parents turned him into a ricer.

I know its hard sometimes, but just take it easier, and talk it out with your mom, maybe you should invest in a radar detector, Later, Jeff

When you lose your license? Not if but when? Obviously you have high hopes. I would think you'd be better off just buying a cheap moped/goped/scooter.
