Credit Card Scam BS...You should read

Just to let others know in case they see a weird charge on their credit cards. I get a statement in the mail from a credit card I rarely ever use. It's been paid off for a few months now and usually has a low balance anyway. I didn't notice I did not get a statement last month so all of a sudden I get one today. I pop it open and I see I have a $129.98 balance with a $29.00 late fee....WTF???

I make a phone call since I pay all my charges and have no idea where it came from. I speak to the lady on the phone and she tells me their were two charges made to my card from TLG Just for Me services. I have no idea what this is but get the phone numbers to contact them.

I do some google searching and all I see is scam this and fraud that....great. I try calling and of course they are closed on the weekends. I call my CC company back and they cancel the charges. However, it will take 2 billing cycles for it to clear up so I still need to make a minimum payment on something I shouldn't even be dealing with. Freaking ridiculous.

I hate dealing with this garbage.

Contact your CC again, because if you are disputing a charge you should not have to pay a dime toward it. And as long as you contacted them within 60 days of the charge, I don't believe you have to pay the late fee either.

If this isn't the case with your CC, cancel them and get a different card. Capital One and Discover do not require a minimum payment if you are disputing charges.

And yes, you should always check your statements to make sure each charge was authorized. I always check online a few times a month, as well as when I pay the bill.

as for the scam, you should probably cancel the card and get a new number. It'll probably happen again now that the number has been successfully charged once, even after they refund the money.

Yea the people over there were surprisingly on the rude-side. They took off the late fee and canceled the charges, however I still had to pay a monthly on it even though the charges weren't my fault. I will give them another call and try to get the card number changed but I won't be able to cancel a card until it has a $0 balance as with most cards.

Again, just annoying.

Yea, ditch that card right away. Any company that will make you pay monthly charges for something that you are disputing is crap.

My Bank of America card was charged fraudulently for 4 months straight before I noticed it (paperless billing and the email on the card was an old one - I hadn't used the card in over a year) and they took care of all the charges and late fees for me with one phone call. They also cancelled the card on the same call since I didn't use it anymore and it was just sitting in my desk.

You should try calling back and talking to someone else. I would try to bitch and get a manager on the phone if they give you the same crap again.

as others have said, ditch that card. get another one. it is common practice to put the account on hold - no new charges nor payments - while things are in dispute.

hell, i'd check google again to see if maybe there isn't a class action against the CC company. doesn't sound like there are dealing fairly at all.

Gave them another phone call and this time went a bit better. They canceled the charges but are not budging on the minimum payment which is now $10. I told them to change the card number and as soon as they spend the money for postage, the card will be canceled. It's even more ridiculous that this is a lousy $1000 limit CC which is not even worth having for the hassle.
