dmv anyone hear this??

this today but if its been around since july 16th i think it would have been more talked about...

I don't know if this is true or not but I figured that I would pass it on.

I want to quickly alert you all that my car failed a New Jersey inspection review today.......now get this......because of the little clear plastic adhesive indicating your 'next oil change' that your service mechanic or dealer would normally place on the top left of the windshield was there.

Absolutely silly, crazy and ludicrous, but true. Effective today, July 16 -- and as they said 'with no exceptions'..... the officer said that any and all cars that have this clear little decal on their window will fail.

What's crazy, is that every car....and I mean every car that was coming off the general inspection line today FAILED! What was happening at the Paramus inspection station was that the line for re-inspection was getting longer than the inspection line itself.

Believe me when I say there was an uproar from all these NJ drivers standing in line. Mainly because everyone was blind sided and were caught unaware of this new situation. All I did was simply remove the decal from the window and I was fine....I passed re-inspection.

But, the amount of wasted time, effort and efficiency at the MV station was insane!!!!! Instead of keeping cars moving out...the station inspectors were busy with an extended line of re-inspections....which of course was holding up the usual inspection process.
I asked why didn't he tell me BEFORE I went through the line so that we'd have less congestion at the station, or at least put up a sign that indicated this new rule is in place STARTING TODAY so that people would not be standing in some other line with their cars idling, wasting time and valuable gas. He indicated that they were not allowed to do so.

Therefore, in an effort to save my NJ friends time and aggravation, I am passing this bit of information on to you all. You should also pass this on to any other NJ driving friend as well.

I have not heard of this, but this is NJ after all, so this kind of stupidity wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Would this effect anything on the windshield? If so, what about EZ Pass tags?

Im going to say that this is bogus.
I have heard of cops/inspection stations giving a hard time to people, but not this bad.
I was also told that as of a year or two ago that things like wiper blades, light bulbs, and other small things would be let go to speed inspections up.

yeah a lot of things have been taken off of the safety list. they really just give advisories instead of failures.

It's not bogus, people complained about it to the newspaper.
I read the article when it was published, people don't know to do their own jobs...

technically yes it is a new nj law as of a few years ago, your not allowed anything on your windshield, not even police pba badges. and you are allowed oil change stickers as long as they are transparent. if you have those ugly big jiffylube or private express lube place with colorfull stickers then yes they can fail you for obstruction of view......

thank god i have my inspection guy and ill never have to worry about no front plate and tinted windows and i have never been bothered by cops for any of those things......

I loved NC for their DMV regulations...barely any. They let you slide for just about anything.

& every other gas station will take care of you for a couple bucks if you got some unpassable stuff.

Oh and any car older than I believe 95/96(one of those years) can be excluded from emissions testing all together!

I just did some research and NC is ending issuing stickers their instating a new electronic stickerless inspection process. Makes me wonder what a cop would say to a guy with no sticker on a car with NC plates in NJ.

they wouldn't say anything. its like giving a guy from florida a tinted window ticket. you aren't supposed to do it and if it does happen, it will be thrown out in court. we do need an inspection program though, the way people drive and the things they would drive if we didn't have one would make this state a minefield since we have so many freakin people living on such a small piece of land. **** sucks but its there for a reason. this though, is just dumb

not every state has inspection stickers. california for example only has smog laws and no safety checks. no stickers for them. i drive my ls1 with a rejected sticker and my beretta with a ct inspection sticker...never get any heat about em

How in the **** will a sticker that HIGH up on the windshield inhibit your view? If you're trying to dodge falling rocks? Good point I see where they are coming from...

Unreal
